Welcome and About

Hello There!

Welcome to the Lake House Soapworks Blog!  I just thought it might be nice to have this blog to promote my soap and other body products, share new products that I'm working on, put up information on markets and festivals where I'll be selling my products and occasionally just share some photos of day to day stuff.  I may even have some contests and give-aways!

A Bit About My Soapmaking:

I am a former Baker turned Soap Maker. I started obsessing over cold process soap making in 2008... shortly after the infatuation hit I started to read everything about making cold process soap that I could get my hands on....and shortly after I started to compulsively make cold process soaps. I find the chemistry fascinating. Taking two substances that are so strongly independent on their own and mixing them to form a completely different element of wonderful bubbliness is just magical to me.

I also find great joy in playing around with different looks for my soap.  A lot of my inspiration is from my former life working as a Baker and Cook.  I have many food inspired soaps.  The creativity that I am able to express with each loaf of soap I make is extremely satisfying.  It's like magic every time I slice the soap and see how my swirls or embeds turned out.  I choose to use the cold process method because I love the process and how the end product feels and looks.

For the past year and a half I've sent soap to family, I've sent soap to friends..I've recorded their feedback and tweaked my recipes (my family and friends are squeaky clean!). I will continue to play with new recipes and have friends and family test them out so I can bring you soap that is wonderfully long lasting with a luxurious lather and yummy scents. I love using my soaps, I hope you will too!
